For some reason I can't connect to the EA servers and it's displaying that I'm running at a constant 2k+ping for the last 3-4 days (usually I run at around 30-50 ping), anythough literally every other game but ark I'm running at less than 30 ping [wireless connection if that matters] . Anybody know any ways to fix it? Also if I uninstall apex and re-install it will I need to sign back in to my apex account or will it do that automatically since it's connected to my Xbox account? =I've tried= -resetting my console -hard restarting console -checking for system update -unplugging my console for about an hour then plugging it back in -moving apex to my internal hard drive from my external (made it worse) -moved apex back to my external (went back to 2k+ping) -disconnecting and reconnecting my wifi -restarting my router -checked for a apex update

It's happening. People coming up to the window are going insane and getting crappier (for Christmas).
One lady came up, bought a roll of stamps. Before she bought them she asked what they cost. Showed me her 37 cent stamps and asked about using them. I explained stamps now cost 58 cents. She said okay and bought the stamps. She came back an hour or so later and wanted to return them. Apparently first class is still 37 cents in her world because "nobody told me". Sat there arguing with me over the cost of stamps and said she used her 37 cent stamps to mail her bills. I explained she was just lucky i they were still going through or that they were being paid for on the other end.
Coworker tried to help me explain it to her, told her she could only exchange for stamps with different pictures, and that still wasn't good enough. (Oh, and another coworker looked up to see when stamps were 37 cents - almost 20 years ago - but customer still disagreed with that!)Needless to say, after 10 mins of doing everything in my power to get through to her I recruited my supe to come talk to her. It ended with her slamming her stamps down into her purse and stomping out.
Other lady comes in. Box untaped. Unaddressed. "Will you tape this for me?" No. Apparently we "used to that." I told her we hadn't for the time I'd been working there. I actually gave her tape and told her that wasn't the norm but a customer had left it yesterday. Asked her to step aside, get it all ready and come back to the line and she proceeded to tape her box there, pissed because I wouldn't do it for her. Then she asked for a label. I asked her to step aside and return when she was ready. "Oh, I'm ready." Proceeded to stand there for several minutes addressing her label while people who were ready waited in line behind her. Sheesh.

My wife has a friend who sews and mentioned to me the other month she might be interested in getting into it. So this holiday season, I have been buying her a ton of gifts and something that came to mind was a sewing machine.
I would ideally like something that is a good "beginners" machine. It doesnt have to be professional grade, and honestly the cheaper the better. Who knows if she will take to this hobby or not so if she does then later on I will buy a more expensive one.

And it's time for some right-wing political theatre. In recognition of Justice Sotomayor's allegation this week that the Supreme Court currently has respectability, I am going to critique, not Roe, but Casey, the plurality opinion that maintained a right to abortion in all 50 states. I've never read it before (I've read Roe). Let's go!
(It's 170 pages. I don't think I've ever read an abstract this long.)
Well, some other time, then. Still, one must start somewhere.
As you are aware, it is a plurality decision. Justices O'Connor, Kennedy, and Souter would have upheld the "central holding" of Roe while also rejecting its strict three-trimester framework, adopting a "viability" standard for when women do not have a right to an abortion. And they would have balanced the state's interest in protecting (even pre-viability) life against the woman's right to a pre-viability abortion by placing an "undue burden" standard in judging laws about pre-viability abortion. That is why states can try to persuade women not to have abortions.
Let's count to five!
O'CONNOR, KENNEDY, and SOUTER, JJ., announced the judgment of the Court and delivered the opinion of the Court with respect to Parts I, II, III, V-A, V-C, and VI, in which BLACKMUN and STEVENS, JJ., joined, an opinion with respect to Part V-E, in which STEVENS, J., joined, and an opinion with respect to Parts IV, V-B, and V-D. STEVENS, J., filed an opinion concurring in part and dissenting in part, post, p. 911. BLACKMUN, J., filed an opinion concurring in part, concurring in the judgment in part, and dissenting in part, post, p. 922. REHNQUIST, C. There wasn't anyone in the majority who didn't write an opinion!
I've never seen TWO dissents signed by all the justices in a dissentnig side.
So I think what I'll do is write some statements as I come across them and rate how much I agree with them on a scale of 0 to 10.
Parts I and II of the Plurality opinion
Liberty finds no refuge in a jurisprudence of doubt.--6/10
It must be stated at the outset and with clarity that Roe's essential holding, the holding we reaffirm, has three parts. First is a recognition of the right of the woman to choose to have an abortion before viability and to obtain it without undue interference from the State. Before viability, the State's interests are not strong enough to support a prohibition of abortion or the imposition of a substantial obstacle to the woman's effective right to elect the procedure. Second is a confirmation of the State's power to restrict abortions after fetal viability, if the law contains exceptions for pregnancies which endanger the woman's life or health. And third is the principle that the State has legitimate interests from the outset of the pregnancy in protecting the health of the woman and the life of the fetus that may become a child. These principles do not contradict one another; and we adhere to each.--5/10
Constitutional protection of the woman's decision to terminate her pregnancy derives from the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. It declares that no State shall "deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law."--8/10
The controlling word in the cases before us is "liberty."--2/10
It is a promise of the Constitution that there is a realm of personal liberty which the government may not enter. We have vindicated this principle before. Marriage is mentioned nowhere in the Bill of Rights and interracial marriage was illegal in most States in the 19th century, but the Court was no doubt correct in finding it to be an aspect of liberty protected against state interference by the substantive component of the Due Process Clause in Loving v. Virginia, 388 U. S. 1, 12 (1967) (relying, in an opinion for eight Justices, on the Due Process Clause).--9/10
As the second Justice Harlan recognized... "...This 'liberty' is not a series of isolated points pricked out in terms of the taking of property; the freedom of speech, press, and religion; the right to keep and bear arms; the freedom from unreasonable searches and seizures; and so on. It is a rational continuum which, broadly speaking, includes a freedom from all substantial arbitrary impositions and purposeless restraints, . . . and which also recognizes, what a reasonable and sensitive judgment must, that certain interests require particularly careful scrutiny of the state needs asserted to justify their abridgment." --4/10
The inescapable fact is that adjudication of substantive due process claims may call upon the Court in interpreting the Constitution to exercise that same capacity which by tradition courts always have exercised: reasoned judgment.--4/10
Some of us as individuals find abortion offensive to our most basic principles of morality, but that cannot control our decision. Our obligation is to define the liberty of all, not to mandate our own moral code.--5/10
The underlying constitutional issue is whether the State can resolve these philosophic questions in such a definitive way that a woman lacks all choice in the matter...--5/10
At the heart of liberty is the right to define one's own concept of existence, of meaning, of the universe, and of the mystery of human life. Beliefs about these matters could not define the attributes of personhood were they formed under compulsion of the State--7/10
These considerations begin our analysis of the woman's interest in terminating her pregnancy but cannot end it, for this reason: though the abortion decision may originate within the zone of conscience and belief, it is more than a philosophic exercise. Abortion is a unique act. It is an act fraught with consequences for others...--8/10
Though abortion is conduct, it does not follow that the State is entitled to proscribe it in all instances. That is because the liberty of the woman is at stake in a sense unique to the human condition and so unique to the law.... Her suffering is too intimate and personal for the State to insist, without more, upon its own vision of the woman's role, however dominant that vision has been in the course of our history and our culture. The destiny of the woman must be shaped to a large extent on her own conception of her spiritual imperatives and her place in society.--0/10
Actually Parts I and II of the plurality opinion are in my opinion well written and well-reasoned. It is only in the areas of assumption and bias that one can attack them.
Let's take a sneak peak at Justice Stevens's opinion, just because I said so.
The Court is unquestionably correct in concluding that the doctrine of stare decisis has controlling significance in a case of this kind, notwithstanding an individual Justice's concerns about the merits.
We'll see more about that in Part III of the plurality opinion! I think we're going to have a really, really hard time here. I think this line deserves some repetition.

Let me think about that one again. Controlling significance? Unquestionably correct about "controlling" significance?
What does that even mean? It's just puffery. Does he mean "it exists, so follow it"? If so (and I can't really tell), I have to say nah. The court should not have popped its cherry in the first place. That doesn't mean--oh, dear, that was a bit of an unfortunate comparison given the subject matter, wasn't it, well anyway--it doesn't mean that it can stare decisis its way into a continued jurisprudence of promiscuity. Let's see how good the reasoning is, then I'll decide. Personally, I think a decision that changes the very nature of the separation of powers, a decision like, say, Marbury v. Madison, needs to be looked at on its own merits, with the foremost consideration being not just was it the right decision, but was it in the long run in the best interests of the Constitution.
I also accept what is implicit in the Court's analysis, namely, a reaffirmation of Roe's explanation of why the State's obligation to protect the life or health of the mother must take precedence over any duty to the unborn.
I don't think the reasoning Stevens gives leads to that premise. It just leads nowhere.
My disagreement with the joint opinion begins with its understanding of the trimester framework established in Roe. Contrary to the suggestion of the joint opinion, ante, at 876, it is not a "contradiction" to recognize that the State may have a legitimate interest in potential human life and, at the same time, to conclude that that interest does not justify the regulation of abortion before viability (although other interests, such as maternal health, may). The fact that the State's interest is legitimate does not tell us when, if ever, that interest outweighs the pregnant woman's interest in personal liberty. It is appropriate, therefore, to consider more carefully the nature of the interests at stake.
That just sounds so interesting and I think that's enough of a preview for me to come back next time.

I am not falling for a marketing tactic and I don't need to be told how/what to think about an update. TYVM!!

ISSUE 1: Unnecessary quantity and length of posts is clear marketing
You should not be posting "snapshots" or a "first look" of an update that hasn't been released. I even think posting patch notes the day before is done so people discuss it or hype it up before its out (free advertising). There should be a singular post when an update is released that includes a list of patch notes. Not a day, days, or weeks before the patch is released. Not multiple posts about the same update. Why do I need to be told 3 times about "Over 150 individual fixes..." before the update is even released? If you need more proof take a look at the second, Nov 23rd post regarding update #3. They included "Adjusted the timing for automatic doors" & "Added a hand gesture animation when placing the Loadout Crate".

I'm new to the game and the series as a whole. Im on the second month and I've started using battalions and they seem very underwhelming outside of maybe the fireball area of effect one. Im not sure if im not using them correctly, or my authority levels are too low on my characters. Im not overwhelmed by the stats, but I guess im confused on whither or not I should be leveling these skills on my students.
I picked the golden deer house if that matters. Also I thought battalions meant you would select a student to organize a squad to fight for them, so needless to say, im not understanding battalions or authority at all really, expect all students can benefit from the skill?
Side note I absolutely love this game and im so glad I took a risk trying something new! I have tons of small questions I would love to ask because I love this game so far but there's always little questions I have that I cannot quite find the answers to online
